Christians in Pakistan make up 1.6 percent, or about 2.8 million people, of the total population according to 2005 statistics. They are the second largest religious minority community in Pakistan after the Hindu. They are subjected to severe persecution, murder, arson or imprisonment. Christians, and the rest of the religious minorities in Pakistan, suffer from religious and social persecution.
