Dr. Raouf Handy, an Egyptian Baha'i activist, said Al-Azhar institution statements on minorities inside Egypt are different from its statements outside Egypt. He said that Al-Azhar warns of Bahaism as a threat, but at the same time, it does not condemn the acts of IS militants. He added that the state recognizes presence of Baha'is, but it does not declare that publicly, and that Baha'is coordinated with the state devices to get their rights gradually.
